A New Hobby (Kind Of)

I've not been feeling myself recently (something that I'm currently trying to articulate into a blog post), and I've found myself feeling very bored and disinterested in things I used to enjoy. The only thing that seemed to please me is lying in bed rotting away my brain with reddit. Even that became boring.

It's a common stereotype that writers think more about writing than actually doing it, and that somehow managed to get me out of my slump. At this point, thinking about writing is as good as the real thing. I managed to combine my love for brainrot with a new way of looking for inspiration: cutting and sticking.

I am a notorious magazine collector, despite the fact that they never get read. They take up space in my wardrobe, until I find them months later and move them somewhere else (where they still will not be read). I recently had a clear out and came across all of my magazines, and decided that enough was enough; I would finally read them. The issue then became what then? What if there was something I really liked about a magazine and I didn't want to part with it, or what if there was only a small image or phrase that attracted me?

So, I stuck on a reddit storytime video and began rooting through the magazines, cutting out any segments or images or quotes that either gave me an insight into writing, or something that just inspired me. I found that this has been really effective at keeping my mind active whilst I'm in my slump, but it's also a fun way to keep myself occupied. I have a million old notebooks that I haven't used, so I've been sticking my clippings into them, with the hope that one day I will flick through and find something so inspiring that I can no longer resist the urge to write.

Hope your writing is great and you are greater,

All the best,

Talia
